While I haven't been doing too much painting :( I've been going to a lot of Arts events to try and stay in the loop. Thursday, November 19 wsa Columbia, SC's annual
Vista Lights celebration and, boy, it was a success. Last year I only caught the tail end of the festival and had no idea how busy it would be. All of the local shops and galleries decorated their stores with Holiday lights, wreaths, and decor. There was also live music and local celebrities everywhere.
The most exciting part of the whole festival was when I ran into my friend
Lauren Maurer at the festival. As you can see her booth looks excellent and she had all kinds of new paintings I hadn't seen before. Please check out her
blog. She has some really nice pieces of Lake Murray, the Congaree River, and other important landmarks from South Carolina. Here's a picture of Lauren at the event.

Something that was also really memorable for me at the Vista Lights was seeing this huge assemblage piece of Marilyn Monroe. (I'm pretty girly and love anything with Marilyn Monroe on it.) It is by
Kirland Smith and is on display at Gallery 80808 in the Vista. Enjoy!
