Birthday Flowers

This is a painting of the beautiful flowers my boyfriend bought me for my birthday back in August. I'm not sure if it's finished, but I like how it's super feminine with all the pink. (I think it's even more pink in real life, that's artificial lighting for you) Also, I used a palette knife for the majority of this painting. I actually started painting the flowers because I had way too much red left over from another painting, but I'm glad I did. I think it will be a very nice girly piece with just minor finishing touches.

Commission that fell through

This painting was commissioned and at the last minute, the client baled because he did not have the money. Too bad. It is a great little painting. I'll be selling this one in a gallery. Coddell Farm Commission

I had a very last minute commission to paint someone's grandmother's farm. It was for his grandmother's 90th birthday celebration. I had to do it! What an accomplishment, 90 years, and she was an acclaimed artist herself, from Winchester, KY, Ms. Laura Anna Coddell.

At the time I was not happy with how the painting turned out, since it was quite rushed. But since then, I've grown fond of it. What do you think?

Latest Commission- Georgia Fan Painting

This latest commission is a surprise for a brother's 35th birthday! I'm so excited- it looks even better in person! The brother is a huge Georgia football fan and the picture is an old picture of he and his younger brother at Christmas time. I chose to do an 18 x 24 inch acrylic on canvas.  This is the first time I've used hep from a light projector and wow! it sure does save time... I'm working on another surprise for my sister and a friend's birthdays as well and I'll post as those get closer to completion.

Karin Jurick's Different Strokes from Different Folks Challenge

The other day I stumbled upon Karin Jurick's Different Strokes from Different Folks Challenge and decided to give it a whirl. The challenge was for the beautiful streets of San Francisco. I've recently begun using a palette knife instead of brushes. I really like painting with the knife and I love it's textured effects, but I still need a little more practice (as you can see.) It was a nice little break from the usual South Carolina paintings.

Recently Finished!

Being from South Carolina, I just love marsh and low-country scenes. Originally I was going to put a heron in the picture, but I fell in love with it's calming neutral colors and decided to leave it as is. I'm glad I did.
